Siberia Native

The vast expanse of Russia is home to over 4 million Native peoples. All total, there are over 40 distinct Native people groups. While the atheism is still pervasive today, many still hold to their traditional religions of Shamanism, Animism and Buddhism, paying homage to various spirits and venerating ancestors. There are thousands of villages and population points among the Native peoples where there is no witness of the gospel whatsoever, and where people have never even heard the gospel of Jesus Christ proclaimed.

Alaska Native

Alaska is home to over 100,000 Native peoples. Tribes include the Aleut (Unangan), Alitiiq, Athabascan, Eyak, Haida, Inupiaq Eskimo, Tlingit, Tsimsian and Yupik Eskimo. Conditions of ministry in Alaska are very difficult. Many villages are extremely remote and accessible only by bush planes. There are still over 50 predominantly Native villages where there is no evangelical church. Pray for the gospel to penetrate the most remote parts of Alaska, and for more missionaries to spread the gospel. Pray for Native churches to be planted in unreached villages.

Canada First Nations

The colonial and post-colonial history of First Nations Tribes in Canada is particularly bitter. State-instituted residential schools saw children often times taken from their parents in an effort to teach them the "white" way of life. In many cases, conditions were harsh for the children. Sadly most of these schools were run by people who professed to be Christians. Today there is a need for trust, and for true believers to show and live out the deep and abiding love of Christ among these tribes. There are still over 200 unchurched First Nations communities across western Canada. Tribes include the Beaver, Blackfoot, Chilcotin, Cree, Shuswap, Stoney and many others. Pray not only for racial reconciliation, but most of all for First Nations people to be reconciled to Jesus Christ.

Muslim Communities in Canada

With a growing population of Muslims from diverse backgrounds in western Canada, there are many opportunities for ministry. Many of these immigrants come from countries where preaching the gospel is difficult and dangerous. But in Canada there is freedom to live and serve among Muslims from both Sunni and Shiite backgrounds in hopes of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Many Christians are doing this through personal relationships and other opportunities such as teaching English.

Sikh Communities in Canada

Sikh communities in Canada continue to grow. There are estimated to be over 250,000 Punjabi-speaking Sikhs in the western provinces alone. Learn more about Sikhism, its history, beliefs and how to pray for Sikhs to come to Christ.
