Alaska – America's Last Frontier
InterAct Ministries of Alaska desires to see reproducing disciples impacting communities throughout the state.
Diving deep into discipleship – heart by heart, community by community. We have ministries both in the rural villages and in the urban areas.
Village - Alaska has over 150 villages with populations of less than 1,000. Most of these villages are not on the road system. Dozens of these villages have no regular Christian fellowship or gathering. Many have yet to hear God’s message contextualized in ways that make sense to them. Other hearts have been reborn but have not been effectively disciplied and their faith has not significantly affected their lifestyle. Still others want to impact their communities, see God do epic things in their families, and take on leadership roles. They need to be equipped and supported for the calling of God on their lives.
Urban - Anchorage, Fairbanks, and the rapidly expanding Mat-Su Valley are home to a growing number of Alaska Natives. Here there are also an increasing numbers of vastly diverse ethnic groups. How can we impact these large urban “villages?” These are the “villages of the future,” say some. While churches abound in the urban regions in Alaska, most have been unable to contextualize enough to incorporate cross-cultural diversity. These "urban villages" present incredible opportunities to make a difference among ethnic groups, impacting the environment of even the largest urban centers. And it can be done in the same way, impacting one heart at a time.
